In Tony the Tiger Gets His Gay Stripes, we are treated to the latest in a looooooong running trend of corporate sponsored anti-Christian propaganda, this time in the form of Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes mascot “Tony the Tiger” doing his thing by smiling, posing, and telling us all in that warm, trusted and market-tested voice that hating God and embracing homosexuality as legitimate is Grrrrrrrreat!!!
How long and how far will the corporate war on Truth have to continue along its well established path of escalation before professing Christians will finally accept the fact that we cannot separate the lordship of Christ from our approach to business, marketing, or the pursuit of profit without making those things fundamentally evil? Everything down to cereal cartoon mascots can and will be corrupted and used to spread corruption when we dismiss the Great Commission mandate to proclaim and apply the lordship of Christ in every realm of His creation right here and now. (See: Matthew 28)
While things like cartoon tigers advocating homosexuality might seem silly and sad, they should be anything but surprising to a biblically literate Christian living in 2014 America. This sort of sadly surreal development is as predictable as can be. We’ve been chronicling the ever-escalating, in-your-face, proud anti-Christian American corporatism here for some time at FBC (American Pride and Romans 1 Cheeseburgers, Let Them Eat Gay Cake: Corporate America’s Pro-Gay Blitz Hits Delicious New Lows, and As if Apple wasn’t gay enough already. are just a few examples.)
Until and unless the Church repents of past and present apathy and support (both passive and active) for the forces waging this war against Christ and His people, we will only see this escalation continue. These things are not happening primarily because Kellogg’s or homosexual activists are given over to a depraved mind, a la Romans 1. These things are happening because the professing church of Jesus Christ has been conformed to the world she was commissioned to transform, and has abandoned the Gospel-fueled Great Commission in favor of secular (aka “Satanic”) pragmatism as the best way to manage things in this life. Until and unless the Church repents of her rebellion, she will continue to lead the way into further darkness and ultimately death. (See: Judgment begins with the Church…not the Democrats.)
State-controlled children’s education and corporate-controlled pop-culture are on the verge of cementing a thoroughly anti-Christian worldview into the hearts and minds of the overwhelming majority of Americans – including the vast majority of professing Christian Americans. And, in the most tragic of ironies, it is and always has been professing Christians who are most responsible for these things taking place.
By freely sending their children to the State for explicitly anti-Christian “education” in direct contradiction to the clear Word of God on the subject of children’s education, and by vigorously supporting (and personally profiting from) flagrantly anti-Christian corporate activity, millions of professing Christians have been the chief and most essential enablers of the rot that is about to finish off the American culture. (See: Dear professing Christian investors: Please stop funding the war on actual, obedient Christians.)
For those looking for “signs of the times” or signs of the Romans 1 judgment of God pouring out upon a very proud, rebellious America, they now need look no further than their cartoon cereal mascots.
And for those wondering who to blame for such a tragically comedic, culturally destructive development, they need look no further than the typical American Christian, who, thanks to generations of State/corporate programming and unbiblical “leadership” from a professional pastor class, has as much disdain as anyone for the Gospel-fueled Great Commission in practice.
