‘Round this time last year we posted On October 31, are we walking dead or are we supernatural reformers?
There we asked a handful of questions, including:
What is true biblical Reformation?
What does the supernatural Gospel do to a person who, by the grace of God, repents and believes in response to the command to do so?
How does such a supernaturally transformed person then behave? What do they do differently?
How do they then personally apply and advance the Great Commission?
To what does that Commission apply? Why is it so “Great”?
Does it cover children’s education, economics, and politics? Is there any area of life, culture, and civilization that it does not cover?
Or does it only deal with those areas deemed to be “religious” or “churchy” in nature?
What should it look like right here and now?
These same questions should still be poking, prodding, and provoking us to prayer, repentance, and perpetual reformation.
That’s the way this life deal works here in God’s creation.
As we move along from day to day, week to week, month to month, and Reformation Day to Reformation Day, we should be able to look back at grace-fueled progress that’s been made in the past. We should also see a bit clearer down the path ahead, noticing areas in need of work and targets in need of conquest that we had not yet noticed this time last year.
Tackling the problems of the cosmos by beginning first in our own hearts and lives is and will always be the essential first step that we take toward the creation-wide victory of the Gospel-fueled Great Commission. The top-down approach relentlessly pitched and promoted by unbelieving “experts”, “elites”, and “leaders” will only lead us deeper into the web of dependence and control in which we find our culture currently ensnared.
Our perfect hope in every realm of God’s creation – from the artistic, political, and economic to the legal, technological, and linguistic – centers in the God who has made each of these things for His glory and our benefit. If we pursue biblical Reformation in our lives, then our homes will find hope for the same. If we pursue biblical Reformation in our homes, then our churches will find hope for the same. If we pursue biblical Reformation in our churches, then our culture really and truly will find hope and life and freedom and liberty through the same.
This is our mission, Christians!
This is the Big Picture.
This is the light by which we should guide our use of whatever it is that the Lord has given us in this present moment to advance His Kingdom.
Today we’d like to remind and encourage you in this mission and this perspective, while also thanking those who have helped to fuel our part of the mission as we learn and grow and work with what we’ve been given to do our part in this supernaturally cool Kingdom-advancing cause.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for your prayers, patience, encouragement and support!
Happy Reformation Day!
As we move on from this one to the next, here are some matchlessly beautiful and inspiring bits of perfection to hold close and use to fuel the ongoing, unstoppable march to victory of the Kingdom of God…all by His grace, all for His glory, and all to the eternal benefit of His people:
The LORD says to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.”
~ Psalm 110:1 (emphasis added)
.
This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,
“‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.”’
Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”
~ Acts 2:32-36 (emphasis added)
.
For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
~ 1 Corinthians 15:25 (emphasis added)
.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
~ Matthew 28:18-20 (emphasis added).
